Stefan Vogt's Virtual Home

Downloads:

the latest version of the MAPS software to view X-ray fluorescence data acquired with the sector 2 X-ray microprobes is available as a zip file, please find it here. The software is written in IDL, a programming language that is well suited to image processing and visualization, and is available across platforms (MS Windows, Mac, Unix). IDL is available from ITT Visual Information Solutions (they have acquired RSI, Inc.) as a full developer version as well as a run time version (IDL virtual machine). The latter is free of charge.

There is also a VERY rudimentary and NOT at all complete manual that I started to work on. Currently it mainly contains installation information, as well as how to get started.

And, before downloading, please be aware that this is not an 'official' software package, and it is maintained mostly in the authors' free time. The software is provided 'as is', without any kind of warranty whatsoever. There is no guarantee MAPS will work, nor is the program bug-free (unfortunately). Feedback is quite welcome, and I will try to respond quickly in case there are problems. If you come across bugs, please do let me kow, and I willl try to fix them. To the best of my knowledge this package is virus free, but one should never fully trust 'things' downloaded over the net.
